Coffee Shop Near You - Pumpkin Spice Latte

Pumpkin Spice Latte

Driving, walking, ordering on an app for pickup, or getting a subpar cup of coffee.  Those are all things that will happen if you buy your coffee from a shop down the road.  Don't forget about waiting in line either!  No more will you have to accept this in your life!  Start making your favorite drinks at home by following our easy recipes contained in our blog here.

Let's start with a holiday favorite, and we're not talking Christmas or hot chocolate.  Nope, na uh, we are talking Pumpkin Spice Latte's! The pinnacle of Halloween, or autumn, coffee drinks.  I know it can be a polarizing drink, but I've secretly heard the haters say they kinda like this one.  Come join the autumn sensation!

So what do you need to make your own pumpkin spice latte?  If you have baked anything in the last year you probably have a lot of the ingredients that you'll need to make this coffee drink.  This syrup portion of the recipe may seem a little harder than what we have suggested before, but we promise it will add the pumpkin spice punch that makes this drink really shine. Lets dive in to the recipe and figure our what you'll need:

Syrup Ingrediants

  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 1½ cups water
  • 6 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 4 Tbsp. pumpkin purée

This will make enough syrup for about 8 drinks depending on how much pumpkin power you desire.

Next, you'll need to whip this all together, so get  Ratatouille out and get him pulling at your hair.

Syrup Steps

  1. Place sugar and water into a saucepan and bring to a simmer
  2. The sugar will dissolve, then add cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, and pumpkin purée.  Let this spicy little concoction simmer for 20mins.
  3. After 20 minutes, remove from heat and strain the mixture (Recommended: Cheesecloth)

Make The Coffee

  1. Froth your milk
  2. Brew espresso, we recommend our African Espresso with a Moka Pot (Usually the easiest at home method for espresso).

The next step is up to you.  Usually, about 3/4 of the mug will be espresso and then add syrup to taste.  If you want to take the opportunity of the extra space you can add some whipped cream on top to really give it that Starbucks flare.  Don't forget your frothed milk!

Making a pumpkin spice latte can be a process, we understand why someone would go to Starbucks to avoid this task, but for those that want full control over their brew, and what they are drinking there is no better way than making it yourself.
